The Pittsburgh Crèche

Alchemica Solutions is consulting in association with the Entertainment Technology Center and ASTORINO for the Dioceses of Pittsburgh on The Pittsburgh Crèche at USX Plaza

The project brief was to add dynamic DMX dimming control for a theatrical lighting presentation of the gospel. Alchemica Solutions specified an ETC Sensor+ Touring dimmer rack and an amBIENT XC video to light controller for the project.

Alchemica uses a randomized PC Media Player as a low-cost non-linear approach to lighting design using video regions as lighting control points. This allows for variety and flexibility of the program content and an abstracted programming technique for this temporary 24hour/day installation.

The content based programming method required no prior knowledge of statue placement or lighting set-up and can be quickly implemented after the electrics are installed.

Light Up Night is November 19th and The Pittsburgh Crèche will run into January 2011.
